Job Summary and Qualifications Role Summary: Provides direct patient care by assisting the surgeon in achieving desired surgical outcomes. Aids perioperative team by scrubbing and caring for the patient before, during and after surgical intervention. Qualifications Required Education: Surgical Technologist with less than 5 years experience: graduate of an approved Surgical Technologist course with an Associate of Science in Surgical Technology or Applied Science. Surgical Technologist with 5 or more years experience: None. LPN in Surgical Technologist role with less than 5 years experience: graduate of an accredited LPN program with an Associate of Science in Surgical Technology or Applied Science. LPN with 5 or more years experience: None. Preferred Education: Associate of Science in Surgical Technology or Applied Science. Required License: Surgical Technologist: Current BCLS certification; certification to be obtained within one year of hire for individuals hired after August 1, 2007. LPN in Surgical Technologist role: Current BCLS certification and current NC license; certification to be obtained within one year of hire. Individuals hired prior to August 1, 2007 are exempt. Preferred License: None. Required Experience: Surgical Technologist: Three years surgical technician experience with an Associate of Science in Surgical Technology or Applied Science OR Five years surgical technologist experience in an operating room setting. LPN in Surgical Technologist role: Three years surgical technologist experience with an Associate of Science in Surgical Technology or Applied Science OR five years surgical technologist experience in an operating room setting.
