Rainmaker Resources is conducting a confidential search for a Tax Partner with deep real estate expertise to join an established accounting and advisory firm.

This opportunity is suited to a leader who combines technical depth with strong client relationships and an interest in helping grow a real estate tax practice. The successful candidate will advise owners, developers, and investors, lead complex engagements, and develop professionals who deliver thoughtful, proactive service.

The Opportunity

As a senior member of the tax practice, this partner will help clients navigate the financial and tax considerations surrounding real estate ownership, investment, development, and transactions.

The role combines client advisory, technical leadership, team development, and practice growth. It offers an opportunity to work collaboratively with other tax and advisory professionals while building lasting relationships with clients and referral partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted tax advisor to real estate owners, developers, investors, and related businesses.
• Lead tax planning and compliance engagements involving partnerships, LLCs, and complex real estate ownership structures.
• Advise on the tax implications of acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing, and entity structuring.
• Guide clients on partnership allocations, distributions, basis considerations, and other complex tax matters.
• Identify planning opportunities involving depreciation, cost segregation, like-kind exchanges, and other relevant real estate tax strategies.
• Review complex returns and technical analyses, providing clear direction and maintaining high standards of quality.
• Coordinate with specialists across the firm to address clients’ broader business and financial needs.
• Manage client relationships, engagement economics, staffing, and service delivery.
• Mentor and develop tax professionals, strengthening technical capabilities and preparing future leaders.
• Expand existing relationships and cultivate new opportunities through professional networks, referrals, and industry involvement.
• Contribute to practice strategy, service improvements, and long-term growth.

Experience and Qualifications

• Active CPA license.
• Significant public accounting tax experience with a strong concentration in real estate.
• Deep knowledge of partnership taxation and experience advising clients with complex ownership and investment structures.
• Demonstrated success leading sophisticated tax engagements and managing senior client relationships.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, and developing tax professionals.
• Ability to explain complex technical matters clearly and translate them into practical recommendations.
• Strong judgment, communication skills, and a collaborative approach to leadership.
• A demonstrated ability to develop business, expand client relationships, and contribute to practice growth.
• Current partner-level experience or senior tax leadership experience demonstrating readiness for a partner role.
• Experience with real estate investment funds, REITs, or other sophisticated investment structures is a plus.
