Commercial Kitchen Equipment Service Technician

Job Description Job Description We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Kitchen Equipment Service Technician to install, maintain, diagnose, and repair a wide range of commercial kitchen equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to ensuring the functionality and safety of kitchen operations in restaurants, hotels, and other foodservice establishments. Key Responsibilities: Installation: Install and set up commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, refrigerators, fryers, dishwashers, and ventilation systems, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and local codes. Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and extend equipment lifespan. Diagnosis and Repair: Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and gas-powered kitchen equipment, identifying issues with components such as motors, thermostats, wiring, and gas lines. Testing and Calibration: Test equipment functionality post-repair or maintenance, calibrating systems to meet operational standards. Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients to understand equipment issues, provide repair estimates, and explain maintenance procedures. Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of tools, parts, and supplies, ensuring availability for timely repairs. Documentation: Complete detailed service reports, including work performed, parts used, and recommendations for future maintenance. Emergency Response: Provide on-call support for emergency repairs during non-standard hours as needed. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in HVAC, electrical, or appliance repair preferred. Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience repairing commercial kitchen equipment or similar mechanical/electrical systems. Skills: Strong knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment, including gas, electric, and refrigeration systems. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints. Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Familiarity with electrical and gas safety standards. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Certifications: EPA certification for handling refrigerants (preferred); CFESA Certification; valid driver’s license required. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs), work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods. Soft Skills: Strong communication, time management, and customer service skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team. Work Environment: Work is performed on-site at client locations, such as restaurants, hotels, and institutional kitchens.
