Commercial Kitchen Equipment Service Technician

Job Description Job Description We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Kitchen Equipment Service Technician to install, maintain, diagnose, and repair a wide range of commercial kitchen equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to ensuring the functionality and safety of kitchen operations in restaurants, hotels, and other foodservice establishments. Key Responsibilities: * Installation: Install and set up commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, refrigerators, fryers, dishwashers, and ventilation systems, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and local codes. * Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and extend equipment lifespan. * Diagnosis and Repair: Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and gas-powered kitchen equipment, identifying issues with components such as motors, thermostats, wiring, and gas lines. * Testing and Calibration: Test equipment functionality post-repair or maintenance, calibrating systems to meet operational standards. * Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients to understand equipment issues, provide repair estimates, and explain maintenance procedures. * Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of tools, parts, and supplies, ensuring availability for timely repairs. * Documentation: Complete detailed service reports, including work performed, parts used, and recommendations for future maintenance. * Emergency Response: Provide on-call support for emergency repairs during non-standard hours as needed. Qualifications: * Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in HVAC, electrical, or appliance repair preferred. * Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience repairing commercial kitchen equipment or similar mechanical/electrical systems. * Skills: * Strong knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment, including gas, electric, and refrigeration systems. * Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints. * Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. * Familiarity with electrical and gas safety standards. * Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. * Certifications: EPA certification for handling refrigerants (preferred); CFESA Certification; valid driver's license required. * Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs), work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods. * Soft Skills: Strong communication, time management, and customer service skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team. Work Environment: * Work is performed on-site at client locations, such as restaurants, hotels, and institutional kitchens. * May involve exposure to high temperatures, noise, and potentially hazardous equipment. * Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts for emergencies.
