Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Design Engineering Manager to lead and manage our engineering design team. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to drive performance, implement effective design strategies, and ensure compliance with industry standards. This role requires a proactive leader who can foster innovation and guide team members towards achieving excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the engineering design team to ensure high levels of performance and productivity.
• Act as the Resource Manager for the department.
• Conduct performance reviews for department staff.
• Direct, lead, and assign projects to leads and supervisors.
• Develop and implement design strategies, objectives, and processes.
• Collaborate with Standards Teams and SMEs to develop product line specific standards.
• Oversee the creation and refinement of engineering designs and drawings, ensuring adherence to best practices, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless project integration.
• Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure project goals are met, and review projects during closeouts.
• Conduct design reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Participate in design risk assessments.
• Identify and implement improvements in design processes and tools.
• Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation, emphasizing manufacturability, complete and accurate drawings, and bills of material.
• Resolve technical issues and provide guidance on complex design challenges.
• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to ensure design requirements are accurately captured and met.
• Prepare and present design proposals, reports, and project updates to upper management.
• Manage external partnerships and resources related to design activities, including manufacturing subcontractors, supply vendors, and customer and installation contractors.

Essential Skills

• Proven project management skills.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and Creo.
• Strong systems engineering and design expertise.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience managing engineering teams of 8 or more.

Work Environment

The role operates in a collaborative engineering environment, utilizing advanced design technologies and systems. The position demands a high level of teamwork and coordination with multiple departments and external partners. The work culture emphasizes continuous improvement, innovation, and adherence to best practices in engineering design.

This is a Permanent position based out of Galesburg, IL.

The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $145000.00/yr.
