The Dental Assistant supports dentists in delivering high-quality oral healthcare to patients. This role involves preparing treatment rooms, assisting during procedures, sterilizing instruments, managing patient records, and ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. The Dental Assistant plays a vital role in patient comfort, efficiency of clinical operations, and compliance with dental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care & Clinical Support
• • Welcome and prepare patients for dental treatment.
  • Assist the dentist during procedures (e.g., passing instruments, suctioning, mixing materials).
  • Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed.
  • Provide post-operative instructions to patients.
• Equipment & Sterilization
• • Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment.
  • Set up treatment rooms for procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, CDC, and infection control guidelines.
• Administrative Support
• • Document treatment information in patient records.
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient flow as needed.
  • Assist with supply inventory and ordering.
• Team Collaboration
• • Support dentists, hygienists, and front-office staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and coworkers.
  • Maintain professionalism and a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program preferred.
• Current state-required certifications (e.g., Radiology, CPR, Coronal Polishing—if applicable).
• Knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

• Clinical setting with exposure to dental instruments and sterilization chemicals.
• Extended periods of standing and assisting chairside.
• Flexible schedule may be required, including evenings or weekends.
