Job Description
West Side Christian School’s Elementary Teacher integrates faith and learning to create a positive, engaging, and Christ-centered classroom environment. The successful candidate will inspire students to achieve academic excellence while serving as the spiritual leader of the classroom.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a consistent walk with Jesus Christ in attitude, speech, and actions
- Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities
- Lead students in developing skills in mathematics, English and language arts, science, history, and Biblical studies
- Prepare a classroom environment that is safe, positive, and that encourages students to take risks in their learning
- Ensure students’ conduct conforms to all school policies and procedures
- Plan through the use of yearly and quarterly goals and objectives, and create and maintain weekly lesson plans
- Provide a variety of age-appropriate learning materials and resources for use in elementary education.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
- Collaborate with other teachers to differentiate instruction and to plan and coordinate lessons and/or events
- Participate in beginning of the year staff orientation, monthly staff meetings, and parent/teacher conference meetings
- Respect the need for confidentiality concerning information related to students, parents, or staff
- Maintain regular and accurate records of attendance and grades throughout the school year
General Responsibilities -
Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, and promptly return phone calls and answer emails
Participate in appropriate professional development activities and training
Take part in school events, outings and activities which may take place throughout the school year
Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Maintain appropriate professional appearance.
Demonstrate regular attendance and punctuality.
Willingly perform other related duties as requested or assigned by the Administrator
Qualifications-
Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education (preferred) or in a related area that will satisfy the requirements of the Arkansas Department of Education or ACSI.
2+ years of classroom experience (preferred)
Knowledge of best practices and expected grade level development
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow teachers and staff
Committed Christ-follower
