Security Officer

Job Summary The Security Officer ensures a safe environment for patients, visitors, employees, and volunteers in an office or ambulatory clinic setting. Core responsibilities include monitoring premises, enforcing policy, responding to emergencies, and protecting Intermountain property. Core Responsibilities Operate and monitor security technology systems such as surveillance cameras, access control, and alarm systems. Maintain functionality and perform routine upkeep of security equipment. Use verbal and non‑verbal de‑escalation techniques to calm individuals and resolve conflicts peacefully. Intervene with violent patients, employing physical restraints when necessary. Comply with regulations (e.g., HIPAA) when reporting incidents, disclosing only the minimum required information. Respond to bomb threats and suspicious packages following established protocols. Participate in drills, including infant abduction and active shooter scenarios. Conduct respectful searches of patients and narcotic inspections in compliance with legal requirements. Perform safety inspections of walking surfaces, fire extinguishers, and overall facility safety. Enforce parking regulations to maintain safety and accessibility. Collaborate with HR and law enforcement on investigations, following protocols for disclosure. Essential Skills Law enforcement, parking, and public safety experience. Lockout/tag‑out and fire drill coordination. Key control and exterior design knowledge. Patient transportation, communication, situational awareness, and decision making. Minimum Qualifications Current driver’s license (if applicable). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers or willingness to obtain within 90 days. Minimum age 21. Preferred Qualifications At least one year of law‑enforcement, corrections, public‑safety, military police, or security experience. Physical Requirements Employee must see and read information, labels, monitors, and identify equipment; communicate verbally; handle manual dexterity tasks; lift, pull, and push equipment up to heavy weights; perform movements on hands and knees and bend to set up, troubleshoot, and transport supplies and equipment. For driving roles, ability to operate a vehicle and read signage. Location & Schedule Intermountain Health Park City Hospital, Park City, Utah. Scheduled weekly hours: 40 hours.
