Position:  Pipefitter 1st Class

Job Location: Pascagoula, MS 

Trade Team Branch: Mobile, AL
Rate of Pay: $52.00 per hour, depending on level of experience / Per diem available for those who qualify

Trade Team USA is seeking experienced 1st Class Pipefitters for long-term opportunities at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS. The Positions are expected to have an initial duration of one year, with start dates as soon as possible.

An Ingalls First-Class Pipefitter, also referred to as a Journeyman Pipefitter, is responsible for the layout, fit-up, fabrication, assembly, and installation of shipboard piping systems. Pipefitters work with various materials, including steel, galvanized steel, copper, Copper-Nickel (CuNi), and stainless steel, along with the appropriate valves, flanges, fittings, and related components.

Qualified candidates must be capable of reading and interpreting trade drawings and blueprints using both standard and metric measurements.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of 4 years of Pipefitter/trade experience.
• Must possess basic math, reading, and comprehension skills.
• Must have knowledge and hands-on experience with the layout, fit-up, fabrication, and installation of pipe.
• Must have experience installing and fitting flanges and valves.
• Must be able to read and interpret trade drawings and/or blueprints.
• Must be able to work with both metric and standard measurements.
• Must have experience using appropriate pipefitting hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
• Must be capable of fitting pipe made from various materials.
• Must be able to work at varying heights and in confined spaces as required.
• Must be able to work in varying shipyard and weather conditions.
• Must be available to work day or night shift depending on production requirements.
• Must follow all applicable shipyard safety, quality, and production procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Perform the layout, fit-up, fabrication, assembly, and installation of shipboard piping systems.
• Fit and install pipe consisting of various materials, including:
  • Carbon/Steel
  • Galvanized Steel
  • Copper
  • Copper-Nickel (CuNi)
  • Stainless Steel
• Install and fit appropriate valves, flanges, fittings, and related piping components.
• Read and interpret pipe drawings, arrangements, blueprints, and specifications.
• Work from both standard and metric measurements.
• Measure, mark, cut, position, align, and fit pipe according to applicable drawings and specifications.
• Perform accurate pipe layout and fit-up before welding or final assembly.
• Verify measurements, alignment, orientation, and fit-up of piping components.
• Use various pipefitting hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely and effectively.
• Perform piping installation throughout various stages of marine vessel construction.
• Work at different heights and within confined spaces when required.
• Maintain required safety, quality, and production standards.
• Perform additional pipefitting duties as required by production and project needs.
