Equipment Maintenance Technician

Vacuum Process Engineering, Inc , known as VPE, is a special‑process manufacturing company serving defense, semiconductor, energy, medical and commercial aviation markets. Pay Range $35-50/hour, depending on experience Summary The Equipment Maintenance Technician II will support VPE Inc. by performing preventative maintenance on furnaces, troubleshooting issues, and providing expertise to the furnace team. The role includes both day shifts and occasional weekend or night work as required. Essential Functions Replacement of system components including vacuum pumps, vacuum gauges, thermocouples, temperature controllers, filter elements, and fluids. Build and operate specialized testing or processing fixtures, systems, and apparatus. Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical equipment using technical, interpersonal, and critical‑thinking skills. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects or needed adjustments and ensure code compliance. Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors. Diagnose and repair industrial equipment such as cooling towers, air compressors, air dryers, vacuum pumps, vacuum gauges, chillers, air handling units, and electric doors. Perform daily general maintenance duties such as preventive maintenance, trouble calls, and emergency maintenance as assigned by the maintenance supervisor. Occasionally work on projects involving conduit running, wire pulling, and device connections using lifts and ladders. Layout, fabricate, assemble, and install or de‑install hydraulic systems. Layout, fabricate, assemble, and install or de‑install low‑voltage systems. Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, including oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps. Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools. Perform or assist outside services with calibration of system monitoring and measuring equipment. Other duties as assigned. Follow detailed instructions to completion, such as work orders or maintenance tickets assigned by the maintenance supervisor. Maintain a clean and safe working environment during and after assignments. Submit fully completed work orders, PM forms, calibration and logbook documentation. Maintain and support 5S activities/principles in the work area and other responsibilities. Requirements 5-10 years’ experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment. Proven experience diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues or failures. Ability to operate independently with minimal leadership. Experience handling voltages up to 480 VAC and 0-5 V DC power; at least 5 years of experience with DC power and controls. Ability to interpret electrical prints and schematics. Ability to install electrical equipment and perform circuit modification. Familiarity with pumps and motors, replacement, diagnosis, rebuilding, and troubleshooting. Proven experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and physics of temperature control. Experience performing preventive maintenance on furnaces, compressors, and hydraulic pumps. Ability to work with cross‑functional teams and departments. Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills. Working knowledge of physics. Current driver’s license and forklift certification. Preferred 10 years’ experience in the field or an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electronics engineering, or a similar field. Experience with Job Boss and Unipoint systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams). Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write procedural documents, routine reports, and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small‑group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
