Contract To Hire Jan 20, 2026 About the Role: Our client, a world-renowned sports organization is seeking a Data Scientist to help transform basketball data into actionable insights. This role focuses on building machine learning models to generate advanced basketball statistics and analytics that drive decision-making and fan engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop machine learning models to produce new basketball metrics and insights
• Work closely with basketball analysts to ensure models reflect real-world game dynamics
• Deploy models and collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure scalability
• Translate complex data into clear visualizations and dashboards for internal teams
• Support ad hoc analytics projects as needed

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong Python and SQL skills
• Background in machine learning, statistical modeling, or data science
• Understanding of basketball fundamentals (analytics knowledge)
• Ability to work with large datasets and model deployment pipelines
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred:

• Exposure to streaming data tools like Flink, Kafka, or Kubernetes
• Experience in sports analytics or other sports data projects
