Training Technician (Live Fire/Ground Controller).

Responsibilities Approve exercise scheduling and conduct pre‑exercise execution checks and coordination. Monitor, evaluate and disseminate information regarding the execution of each phase of each exercise via radar and voice communication systems. Direct range and environmental inspectors to range areas requiring inspection, survey or assessment. Assist in coordinating response to and providing information concerning reportable accidents and incidents. Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position is subject to a pre‑employment screening, and random testing thereafter, including testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement in an on‑duty accident. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis. Qualifications One year of specialized experience that includes at least two of the following: Enforcing range safety criteria to facilitate the execution of dangerous and high‑risk training exercises and maneuvers. Reviewing operational plans to conduct pre‑exercise checks, schedules and coordination. Monitoring exercises to receive and relay information affecting operational plans. or a master’s or equivalent graduate degree, or at least two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field such as Education, Emergency Management, or Occupational Health & Safety. or a combination of education and experience totalling at least 100% of the requirements as calculated by the prescribed formula. Time in Grade: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS‑07).
