Job Description

This role focuses on building and wiring electrical control panels in a clean, organized, and temperature-controlled panel shop. You will use hand tools and electrical test equipment to assemble, wire, and verify the quality of control panels while working independently at your own workstation. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with a busy production schedule and consistent first-shift hours.

Responsibilities

• Build and wire electrical control panels according to blueprints and electrical schematics.

• Use basic hand tools such as screwdrivers, hand drills, and wire cutters to assemble and install components.

• Fabricate and wire control panels, ensuring proper layout and organization of components and wiring.

• Compare wiring and the location of control devices against drawings and schematics to ensure accuracy.

• Examine wiring for loose, faulty, or incorrect connections and correct any issues identified.

• Use test equipment, including voltmeters, ammeters, and ohmmeters, to verify the quality and functionality of control panels.

• Test wiring circuits for malfunctions, identify root causes, and perform necessary corrections or rework.

• Label each wire in the panel clearly and accurately to meet quality and safety standards.

• Follow panel shop processes related to quality, safety, cleanliness, and organization.

• Work proactively by seeking additional tasks or assistance when panel builds are completed ahead of schedule.

• Collaborate with the team as needed while maintaining a high level of independence at your assigned workstation.

• Adhere to all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area throughout the shift.

Essential Skills

• Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics.

• Experience building or wiring control panels or similar electrical assemblies.

• Proficiency using basic hand tools such as screwdrivers, hand drills, and wire cutters.

• Ability to use electrical test equipment including voltmeters, ammeters, and ohmmeters.

• Mechanical aptitude and strong hands-on electrical skills.

• Experience with electrical wiring, panel wiring, or electrical assembly.

• Ability to follow panel shop processes related to quality, safety, cleanliness, and organization.

• Capability to work independently and manage tasks at an individual workstation.

• Strong attention to detail for wiring, labeling, and verifying connections.

• Comfort working in a busy environment with mandatory overtime when required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience as an electrician or electrician apprentice.

• HVAC, particularly experience wiring HVAC units.

• Experience in panel building, blueprint reading, or maintenance technician roles.

• Previous work with control panels in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

• Familiarity with electrical schematics and control panel layouts from prior roles.

• Proactive work style, including seeking additional tasks when work is completed early.

Work Environment

The role is based in a very clean, quiet, and temperature-controlled facility located in a shared industrial building. Each panel builder has their own dedicated work area and works largely independently, with all necessary hand tools provided by the employer. The dress code is relaxed, allowing jeans and T-shirts, and steel-toe shoes are not required. Team members may listen to music on headphones while they work, as long as it does not interfere with safety or communication. The standard shift runs Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glasgow, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
