Postdoctoral Scientist

Summary Postdoctoral Scientist will perform research working collaboratively with other scientific team members to advance early research and early projects through proof‑of‑concept. Postdoctoral Scientists are expected to independently plan and drive projects, design and conduct experiments, maintain proper documentation, and effectively communicate within the onsite research team, across Grifols’ sites and research groups, and within the scientific community. Project emphasis will be on virus inactivation and reduction experiments including accompanying and preparatory work steps such as virus propagation, virus titration, cell culture, etc. Primary responsibilities for role Work collaboratively and productively as part of a team highlighting individual contributions while advancing the larger project scope, including working effectively with a small core team and functional teams within the larger research organization. Provides regular updates to overseeing scientist(s) and other postdocs on the status of experiments and studies. Capable of planning multifaceted projects and incorporating multiple experimental approaches appropriately. Source and interpret literature, run database searches, plan and design experimental studies, execute and refine experiments, interpret and communicate findings. Present research results to colleagues at scientific meetings, publish scientific manuscripts and contribute to the creation of intellectual property. Maintain laboratory notebook and comply with scientific record‑keeping policies. Additional Responsibilities May supervise other personnel (e.g., interns) as needed. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of virological techniques (virus propagation and titration, cell culture, etc.) and general protein purification (precipitation and filtration, chromatography). Trained in handling biohazardous and infectious samples. Exercise judgment and initiative in making project decisions. Creativity and originality in experimental work are expected. Clear oral, verbal, and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Requirements Education: Doctoral degree (PhD, MD or other) in applicable science, engineering, or medical field. Experience: 2+ years of experience in experimental laboratory. Equivalency: Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in lieu of the stated requirements. Example: If a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.
