VP of Product
Autonomize Inc
About Autonomize AI Autonomize AI is the healthcare industry's purpose-built AI platform for automating the complex administrative processes that consume clinicians, payers, and care teams: prior authorization, utilization management, care management, and claims processing. Backed by Valtruis, Cigna Group Ventures, Asset Management Ventures and top-tier VCs, we serve 3 of the top 5 U.S. health enterprises and are scaling aggressively.
We are not building another AI point solution. We are building the operating system for healthcare administration, a platform of AI agents, clinical workflows, and data fabric that replaces manual processes end to end. This is a decisive moment for the company and the industry. We need a VP of Product who has been here before and can lead us through it.
Role Overview This is a senior, hands-on leadership role reporting to the CEO. You own the full product surface: our suite of AI-powered applications, workflows, agents, and the Autonomize platform, plus the product strategy that connects our capabilities to the market. You also carry a P&L outlook across that portfolio, from customer to delivery to engineering.
You are not a PM manager who delegates. You are a builder who leads. You have the depth to go deep on a clinical workflow with a CMO, the technical fluency to challenge an architecture with our CTO, and the strategic clarity to build a go-to-market narrative your sales team can actually run.
Two things to be clear about up front. First, you are inheriting an existing portfolio and an existing team, so part of the job is deciding what to keep, what to compose from what we have already built, and what to kill. Second, this is a path to CPO. Within the first year we expect you to extend credibly into pricing, packaging, and go-to-market, and earn the wider charter.
Key Responsibilities Product Vision & Strategy
Location In-person in Austin is strongly preferred, and we support relocation. For the right leader we will consider hybrid or remote.

Key Responsibilities Product Vision & Strategy
- Define and own the multi-year product roadmap across AI applications, workflows, agents, and platform capabilities
- Steer product strategy and prioritization across Health Plan and PBM markets. Identify the assets we have already built, set roadmap direction, and drive engineering priorities against it
- Translate healthcare market dynamics, customer pain, and competitive signals into a clear strategy and an execution plan people can follow
- Decide what we stop doing. Ruthless prioritization is the job, and saying no is most of it
- Own the product narrative internally and externally, and represent product in board, investor, and enterprise customer conversations
- Lead the evolution of the Autonomize Platform: agent orchestration, workflow engine, integrations (EHR, payer systems, FHIR), and the data layer
- Ensure platform architecture supports scalability, configurability, and extensibility for enterprise health plans, PBMs, and provider organizations
- Balance platform investment against application-layer delivery. Know when to build horizontal and when to build vertical
- Drive demonstrable platform leverage. New apps and workflows should ship faster because they compose from shared primitives instead of starting from scratch
- Own the product roadmap for prior authorization, utilization management, care management, and claims AI applications
- Work closely with clinical advisors, customer success, and enterprise clients so workflows reflect real clinical and administrative reality, not a whiteboard version of it
- Drive AI product quality (accuracy, explainability, auditability) with the rigor regulated healthcare demands
- Partner with the Head of AI to turn research capability into productized delivery against a shared roadmap
- Cut through the AI noise. Challenge the teams, engineering included, on taste: what to build, what to skip, and where our real technical differentiation lies
- Be in the deal. Work directly with customers and prospects to identify opportunities, establish credibility, and show we can execute
- Own product's measurable influence on pipeline and win rate. This is a number you carry, not a function you support from the sidelines
- Partner with sales and marketing on positioning, packaging, and differentiation
- Maintain competitive intelligence on how the market is evolving, and keep challenging our thinking, priorities, and roadmap so we win big in healthcare AI
- Equip the sales team with product narratives, demo environments, and ROI frameworks that hold up in front of a payer CFO
- Build and lead a small but mighty product team, roughly 4 to 5 high-bar PMs, with a clear operating cadence
- Install modern PM practice: roadmap into iterative design, prototyping, and customer validation, then into the engineering roadmap with defined evals and success criteria
- Fix how product and engineering work together. Set the rhythm for prioritization and planning, and earn engineering leadership's respect while doing it
- Create a culture of evidence-based decision-making grounded in customer data, clinical outcomes, and business metrics
- Drive a product mindset across the whole company, not only inside the product org
- Act as our product spokesperson externally at events and conferences
- Operate with the speed and rigor a company in aggressive growth mode requires
- Platform product charter. A written, aligned, funded charter expressed as a portfolio of apps and workflows on the platform, executing against a sequenced roadmap the org rallies behind. Run iteratively, because the pace of this market post-AI is not the pace anyone trained on.
- Platform leverage. Reuse and composition you can point at, with shipping velocity to prove it.
- Commercial value. Product pulling revenue in competitive deals, visible in pipeline and win rate.
- Organizational maturity. A team of 4 to 5 high-bar PMs operating on a clear cadence.
- Product and engineering operating model. Prioritization and velocity system installed. Strong personalities aligned.
- Path to CPO. Credibly extended into pricing, packaging, and go-to-market, and earning the wider charter.
- 12+ years in product management with a clear track record of building and scaling B2B healthcare technology products
- Deep domain expertise in payer, PBM, or value-based care. You have lived inside the workflows: prior authorization, utilization review, care management, claims, or pharmacy benefit. This one is a hard requirement.
- 0-to-1 and scale experience. You have launched products from scratch and grown them to meaningful revenue and enterprise adoption
- P&L exposure. You have owned or co-owned the economics of a product portfolio across customer, delivery, and engineering cost
- AI product experience. You have built and shipped AI/ML-powered products, understand model lifecycle considerations, and can talk technical architecture with engineers without needing a translator
- Platform thinking. You understand the difference between building a platform and building features on top of one, and you have done both
- Working knowledge of LLMs, agentic AI systems, and how they apply to document processing, clinical decision support, and workflow automation
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7, X12, NCPDP) and enterprise integration patterns in payer, PBM, and provider IT environments
- Ability to evaluate technical architecture tradeoffs and hold engineering to the right product outcomes
- Exceptionally strong communicator, written and verbal, in front of health system CIOs, payer CMOs, PBM executives, and our board
- Executive presence that builds trust quickly with enterprise buyers who are used to managing risk carefully
- Works well with strong personalities. Internal alignment is the hardest part of this job, harder than any external pitch
- Experience hiring, developing, and leading product teams in high-growth environments
- Driver, not a passenger. You set the tone, pick things up, and lead the way. You get into the work yourself.
- Embraces the mess. There is work in progress everywhere and less process than you would like. Your job is to move us from chaos to structure without killing the speed that got us here.
- Bias for action. Defaults to motion. Ships and iterates. Makes decisions with imperfect information and owns the outcome.
- Simplifies and drives clarity. Extremely high signal-to-noise awareness. You make complicated things legible for everyone around you.
- Extreme resilience. Chaos, conflict, and rapid scaling do not rattle you.
- Honesty and humility. Transparent, low-ego, customer-leaned, truth-seeking.
- High rate of learning. You ramp fast on whatever you do not already know.
- High standards, with clinical respect. Mediocre product bothers you and you do something about it. You deeply respect the people whose workflows you are automating.
- Championship mentality. You raise the floor around you, not just your own ceiling.
- Executive-level compensation package including competitive base, performance bonus, and meaningful equity
- A direct seat at the leadership table with the Founder and CEO. Your voice shapes company direction
- A defined path to CPO for the leader who earns it
- Category-defining opportunity. Healthcare AI is entering its most consequential chapter and you will help write it
- A customer base of the largest health enterprises in the U.S. Real enterprise scale, real clinical stakes
- Austin HQ, a deliberate choice and not an afterthought. We are building a team culture here
Location In-person in Austin is strongly preferred, and we support relocation. For the right leader we will consider hybrid or remote.
