Division Chief of Stroke Contact a Physician Recruiter Overview The Department of Neurology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) in New Brunswick, NJ is seeking an accomplished physician‑leader to serve as Division Chief of Stroke to join a dynamic and expanding program with clinical, academic, and research components. Responsibilities Administrative Serve as Director of the Comprehensive Stroke Center Care unit and an expert medical resource to the medical staff, other professionals, and administration at RWJMS and RWJUH. Participate in the preparation for accreditation by The Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies, collaborating with hospital leadership. Provide stroke care education and lectures to medical staff, health professionals, staff, and patients. Coordinate and administer the thrombolytic treatment program. Provide leadership and counsel regarding the medical and clinical aspects of operations, including policy development, compliance, and evaluation of emerging technologies. Responsible for medical management of the service/program; provide clinical expertise; monitor clinical indicators to determine whether measurable standards are met; provide medical oversight, including development of goals, budgets, and operations. Responsible for planning and development, including emerging technologies related to programs and services, and help procure state‑of‑the‑art equipment when needed. Participate in committee meetings and support committees and staff in policy development about medical and clinical issues and related requirements. Participate in the teaching mission of RWJMS, including teaching and mentoring fellows in cerebrovascular disorders, residents, and medical students in inpatient and outpatient settings and in small group seminars. Participate in community service responsibilities, such as providing neurological care for indigent patients and advising community groups on cerebrovascular disorders. Participate in the administrative tasks of the Department of Neurology, RWJMS, and RWJUH, including membership in standing or ad hoc departmental and institutional committees. Other duties as required. Clinical responsibilities for Neurointensivist Primary medical management of neurological and neurosurgical patients needing intensive care as the physician of record; provide clinical expertise; monitor clinical indicators to determine if measurable quality standards are met. Responsible for direct and indirect (on‑call) supervision of a multidisciplinary clinical team, including advanced practice providers (APPs) and physician housestaff. Serve as collaborating physician for APPs. Maintain competency for performance and supervision of standard critical care procedures, at minimum including central venous catheterization, arterial catheterization, and lumbar puncture. Evaluate the appropriateness of transfer of patients from affiliated/outside hospitals for specialty care. Participate in the teaching mission through clinical supervision and teaching of trainees, including fellows in critical care, vascular neurology, residents, APP trainees, and students. Meet and maintain requirements for medical staff membership at RWJUH. Clinical responsibilities of a Vascular Neurologist Primary or consultative management of vascular neurology patients during hyperacute, acute, and subacute phases, including evaluation at stroke codes, thrombolytic administration, coordination for endovascular intervention, and post‑treatment management. Management of primary stroke patients including all aspects of inpatient care. Oversee care provided by residents and APPs. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team (social work, case management, rehab, etc.). Participation in ongoing and new research initiatives. Qualifications Board Certified in Neurology, with fellowship training in Stroke and Vascular Neurology. Proven leadership or supervisory experience in an academic or major health system setting preferred. NJ licensed or eligible for licensure. Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, collaboration, and education. Commitment to innovation, equity, and continuous improvement in patient care delivery. Salary The anticipated salary range for this position if hired to work is $275,000 to $470,000 per year. The final salary offer may be determined by several factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and expertise, and availability of department or grant funds to support the position.
