Forward Deployed Engineer - Agentic AI

San Fran / Toronto or New York | Hybrid + East Coast Travel $185K-$240K Base + Equity

We're partnering with a rapidly scaling, well-funded technology company that's building and deploying agentic AI software into real-world businesses.

This isn't a traditional consulting or solutions role. You'll embed directly with companies, understand how their operations actually work, identify where AI can create the greatest impact, and then build and ship the solution yourself.

You'll have significant autonomy across the entire deployment lifecycle, working with everything from LLM agents and evals to integrations, backend systems and user-facing applications.
What You'll Do

You'll work directly with business leaders and operators to uncover high-value opportunities for AI automation, then take those problems from discovery through to production.

You'll build and deploy agentic workflows, integrations, prompts, evaluation systems and user interfaces; monitor and improve systems once they're live; and turn successful deployments into reusable technical patterns that can be rolled out across other businesses.

This is a genuinely end-to-end engineering role where you'll own both the technology and the outcome.
What You'll Have

You'll ideally bring 3-6 years of full-stack, product or forward-deployed engineering experience, alongside strong hands-on ability with Python and/or TypeScript, React and SQL.

You'll have shipped real LLM or agentic systems into production, ideally involving areas such as RAG, tool use, evals, autonomy controls or workflow automation.

Just as importantly, you'll be comfortable working directly with customers and non-technical stakeholders, translating messy operational problems into scalable software and owning delivery without needing heavily defined requirements.

Previous FDE, Solutions Engineering, founding engineer or customer-facing startup experience would be particularly relevant.

You'll be based in either San Francisco, Toronto or New York, typically spending at least three days per week in the office, alongside regular travel to customer locations across the East Coast.
