Building Envelope Specialist
We are seeking an experienced Building Envelope Specialist to join our team. This individual will be responsible for conducting detailed condition assessments of building facades and envelope systems, diagnosing performance issues, and preparing technical repair recommendations and bid proposals for owners, property managers, and design professionals. The ideal candidate combines hands-on field experience with strong diagnostic and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform on-site inspections and condition assessments of exterior building envelope systems, including masonry, curtain wall, concrete, metal panels, roofing, and waterproofing systems.
- Identify and document sources of water infiltration, material failures, and structural deficiencies.
- Develop technical reports, repair recommendations, and restoration scopes of work.
- Prepare and present bid proposals to building owners, engineers, and property management teams.
- Coordinate with design and construction teams to implement effective remediation or restoration solutions.
- Conduct field testing and verification (e.g., water testing, infrared scanning, core sampling) as needed.
- Maintain detailed project documentation including photographs, notes, and inspection summaries.
- Stay current with industry standards, building codes, and emerging envelope technologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in building envelope diagnostics, façade restoration, or waterproofing consulting.
- Working knowledge of building envelope systems, materials, and failure mechanisms.
- Ability to identify construction defects and recommend practical, cost-effective repairs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills — able to translate technical findings into clear client proposals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or Revit a plus.
- Comfortable working at heights and performing hands-on site investigations.
