Maintenance Supervisor

Maintenance Supervisor The Opportunity Maintenance Supervisor at a growth-oriented energy company The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of maintenance activities within the refinery. This role provides direct supervision of maintenance craft personnel and contractors while actively participating in field activities to ensure work is performed in accordance with company standards, OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and refinery operating procedures. This position is both administrative and field based. The Maintenance Supervisor is expected to routinely enter operating units, work alongside maintenance personnel, observe work practices, provide technical guidance, and intervene when necessary to ensure safety, quality, and productivity standards are met. The position is safety-sensitive and operates within a 24-hour, industrial refinery environment. Key activities include Safety Leadership Promote and enforce compliance with OSHA regulations, refinery safety rules, and company policies. Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) reviews. Ensure proper implementation of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, hot work, and line-breaking procedures. Identify hazards in the field and take immediate corrective action. Conduct safety observations and incident investigations as required. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Field Supervision & Hands-On Oversight Spend significant time in refinery units overseeing and participating in maintenance activities. Routinely enter process units, tank farms, utility areas, and maintenance shops to monitor work execution. Work alongside maintenance personnel in the field to provide hands‑on guidance and technical direction. Utilize and demonstrate proper use of common maintenance hand tools (wrenches, impacts, torque wrenches, alignment tools, precision measuring tools) and power tools as necessary to support or verify work. Provide troubleshooting assistance on rotating equipment, pumps, compressors, piping systems, valves, exchangers, and structural components. Verify proper rigging practices and safe equipment handling. Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with specifications, procedures, and quality standards. Access elevated structures, pipe racks, towers, and vessels to inspect work in progress or completed tasks. Ensure proper housekeeping and worksite organization. Planning & Coordination Coordinate daily and weekly maintenance schedules. Review, prioritize, and assign work orders. Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Reliability teams. Support turnaround planning and execution. Manage contractor activities and ensure compliance with refinery standards. Administrative & Reporting Functions Review, approve, and process employee timecards and contractor time documentation. Manage workforce scheduling, overtime assignments, and call‑out coverage. Complete performance evaluations, coaching documentation, and disciplinary actions when required. Maintain accurate maintenance records within the computerized maintenance management system (SAP). Review and close work orders, ensuring proper labor and material coding. Prepare reports related to maintenance performance, safety metrics, and compliance tracking. Participate in budgeting, cost control activities, and resource planning. Attend planning, coordination, and leadership meetings as required. Emergency Response Respond to refinery emergencies, equipment failures, and unplanned outages. Support safe shutdown or startup activities when required. Ensure safe evacuation or hazard mitigation as necessary. Supervisory Responsibilities Direct supervision of maintenance craft employees and/or contractors. Assign and monitor daily work activities. Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback. Participate in hiring and workforce development. Enforce company policies and the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (if applicable). Qualifications To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. Additional qualifications include: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred Minimum 10 years of refinery or heavy industrial maintenance experience Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, piping systems, and industrial maintenance practices Knowledge of OSHA regulations and refinery safety standards Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and procedures Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license Strong leadership and decision‑making skills Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, industrial environment Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Conflict resolution and employee coaching skills Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (SAP) and standard office software Work is performed both in an office setting and throughout refinery process units Regular exposure to industrial hazards including noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes, and hydrocarbons Required use of flame‑resistant clothing and standard refinery PPE Work at heights, on grated walkways, and on uneven surfaces may be required May be required to work extended hours, nights, weekends, or respond to call‑outs Frequent standing and walking throughout refinery units during an entire shift Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs, fixed ladders, and vertical ladders while maintaining three points of contact Ability to climb refinery structures, platforms, towers, and pipe racks to access work areas Show skills/understanding requirements on the use of Man‑lifts Ability to work at heights and on grated or uneven walking surfaces Ability to crawl, kneel, crouch, and work in confined or restricted spaces when inspecting or assisting with maintenance tasks Ability to lift and carry tools and materials (up to 40 pounds occasionally; up to 15 pounds frequently) Ability to push and pull equipment or components as required Sufficient bilateral hand strength and dexterity to grasp and operate hand tools, power tools, valves, handrails, and safety equipment Ability to operate company vehicles, light trucks, UTVs, forklifts, or other mobile equipment as assigned Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including flame‑resistant clothing, gloves, safety glasses, hard hat, and respiratory protection as required Par Pacific prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type and affords equal employment opportunities to employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, protected veteran status, genetic information or any other status protected by applicable law. #J-18808-Ljbffr
