AP Certified Patient Care Technician - Acute Care Day Shift

Job Summary

As a Patient Care Technician, you will perform a variety of technical and direct care tasks including CPR, vital signs monitoring, cardiac telemetry, EKG acquisition, wound care, phlebotomy, and assisting with patient mobility and personal hygiene. You will also support administrative duties such as documenting patient data, transcribing physician orders, and coordinating diagnostic tests.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care within the scope of a Certified Nursing Assistant license.
• Assist with patient transport, personal care, and meal preparation.
• Monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to call lights and emergencies.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient rooms and supplies.
• Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members to promote high-quality patient experiences.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
• Completion of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant program.
• One to two years of patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Telemetry experience is a plus.

Licenses and Certifications

• Certified Nursing Assistant (NA-C) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Medical Assistant Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong knowledge of patient care practices and medical terminology.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate approach.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and medical telemetry equipment.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

This role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 35 pounds, and occasional lifting above 35 pounds. Visual, hearing, and speech capabilities must be within normal range with or without corrective devices.
