Preconstruction Manager

Overview Suffolk Construction is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Preconstruction Manager to support the preconstruction and estimating teams throughout all phases of project pursuit and development. This role plays a critical part in coordinating documentation, managing schedules, and ensuring seamless communication between internal teams and external partners to support successful project delivery. Responsibilities Support the preconstruction and estimating teams during pursuit, proposal, and pre-award phases Coordinate and manage preconstruction schedules, deadlines, and deliverables Assist with solicitation, tracking, and analysis of subcontractor and vendor bids Maintain accurate records of drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents Prepare and distribute bid packages, meeting materials, and internal reports Coordinate pre-bid meetings, site visits, and internal review sessions Track scope clarifications, exclusions, and assumptions throughout the estimating process Assist in assembling proposals, presentations, and interview materials Collaborate closely with project executives, estimators, and operations teams to ensure alignment Ensure compliance with Suffolk standards, procedures, and quality expectations Manage Subcontractor and vendor database and Bid Management Systems Support Prequalification process assisting with document tracking and prequalification form status updates Management of subcontract issuance process in collaboration with Estimating, Ops, and Legal Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred 1–3 years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or construction coordination (preferred) Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) Familiarity with construction documents, drawings, and specifications Experience with estimating or preconstruction software (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, On-Screen Takeoff) is a plus Excellent written and verbal communication skills High attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
