State of New Hampshire Job Posting – Department of Military Affairs and Veterans Services, Pease Air National Guard Base, Portsmouth, NH. Position # 19346. Pay range: $15.93/hour – $20.80/hour. Full‑time, 40‑hour basic work week. BUILDING CLEANING WORKER Full‑time vacancy for Building Cleaning Worker. SUMMARY To serve as a lead and/or point person and provide a full range of cleaning, custodial or janitorial duties associated with the care, cleaning, and maintenance of multiple buildings at the assigned location. YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and vice versa. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent credential. License/Certification: Valid driver's license. Other Requirements: Must be able to satisfactorily undergo a State Police records check. Must be in good physical condition and have sufficient strength to do heavy lifting, climbing, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling equipment and materials to perform cleaning duties. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience providing cleaning services for a large complex, facility or building. Knowledge and understanding of the safe handling of solvents, chemicals and disinfectants. AFTER-HIRE REQUIREMENTS Must pass a National Agency Check (NAC) to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) used in the performance of assigned work duties within 12 months of hire and be eligible for renewal as a condition of employment. Adhere to cleaning schedules and complete tasks and projects within designated timeframes. Ensure quality and that health and safety standards are being followed. Recommend changes to standard operational procedures to supervisor. Interact with federal personnel, state employees, and/or contractors. Investigate complaints about cleanliness, service, or equipment issues and take corrective actions on‑site. Respond to immediate safety and/or maintenance concerns; refer escalated issues for resolution to supervisor. Complete daily activity reports, logs, or notes as necessary. Inventory stock to ensure supplies and equipment are available in adequate amounts and order or advise the supervisor of what is needed. Perform light to heavy physical custodial activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, or handling equipment and materials to perform cleaning duties, e.g., dusting, vacuuming, stripping/buffing/waxing floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls, glass, and disinfecting. Apply appropriate solvents, chemicals, and disinfectants; remove contaminated and non‑contaminated waste from buildings/facilities; dispose of waste in a prescribed manner. Adhere to health and safety requirements for the work area or facility and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and fixtures; ensure restrooms are maintained for cleanliness and fully stocked with essential supplies. Clean high‑traffic areas within facilities, including entryways, foyers, lobbies, main hallways, and locker rooms; sanitize high‑touch areas such as door handles, light switches, and countertops; empty trash bins and replace liners promptly.
