This position works out of our Altavista, VA location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Our Nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow to keeping adult bodies strong and active. WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Support Front Line Leader in daily operations driving process flow excellence. Lead Pre and Post shift huddles associated with daily Operations. Identify and assess daily/task safety risk assessments. Act the main point of contact in the absence of Front Line Leader. Identify bottlenecks and bad actors and offer mitigation solutions.
- For Equipment Operation: Safely operate both complex and standard high-speed production equipment that manufactures nutrition products. Perform maintenance of product level. Ensure proper operating parameters for the filler, capper, accumulators, and casepackers. Perform preventative maintenance. Maintain the downtime report. Ensure commodities are released prior to usage. Perform CIL on equipment. Perform visual equipment inspections. Conduct fill weight checks and other critical checks. Maintain, complete and review work order documentation. Audit quality checks, line clearances, batch changes, commodity returns, etc. Trouble-shoot equipment issues and support maintenance/engineering with equipment downtime events.
- For Clean Up Operation: Perform preventative maintenance checks on filler valves and pistons, ensure proper cleaning methods are used during a wash job, clean areas to include: filler, aseptic chamber, cappers, accumulators, casepackers, floors, walls and drains.
- Meet all safety and housekeeping GMP requirements.
- Perform proactive safety risk assessments for areas and tasks.
- Coordinate and execute pre and post shift meetings.
- Run reports and execute data analysis as needed.
- Coordinate and execute product isolations and line separation events.
- Work order and Batch set up; Effectively interface with Production systems.
- Work order distribution and reprints.
- Partner and communicate with support groups as needed to meet business objectives.
- Facilitate and lead continuous improvement activities; idea implementation.
- Identify bottlenecks and provide risk mitigation solutions
- Liaison between operations and support groups
You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Prior job experience within the plant
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, analytical troubleshooting skills and the ability to multitask.
Preferred
- Experience with tools and equipment related to the position is desired (hand tools, seamer, filler, sterilizer system, can washer, product filters, forklift, palletizer/depalletizer, labelers, tray wrapper and Hi-Cone, etc.).

The base pay for this position is $24.65 – $49.25 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.]]><
