Maintenance MechanicThe Maintenance Mechanic supports a busy machine shop by preparing, loading, and overseeing production machines to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. This role involves hands-on mechanical work, routine inspections, and proactive maintenance to keep equipment running smoothly and minimize downtime.ResponsibilitiesPrepare production machines for daily operation, ensuring all equipment is set up correctly and safely before use.Load materials into machines and monitor operations to maintain consistent production quality and output.Perform routine mechanical inspections on machine shop equipment to identify wear, damage, or potential issues.Troubleshoot mechanical problems on production machines and perform timely repairs to reduce downtime.Oversee the performance of machines during operation and make necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency.Follow established maintenance procedures and safety guidelines while working on all equipment.Collaborate with a small production team to coordinate machine usage, maintenance schedules, and workflow.Document inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs to ensure accurate equipment records.Maintain a clean and organized work area around machines to support safe and efficient operations.Communicate equipment status, issues, and repair needs clearly to production team members and leadership.Essential Skills23 years of hands-on mechanic experience in a machine shop environment.Proficiency in operating, loading, and overseeing production machinery.Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to inspect equipment and identify issues.Experience performing routine mechanical maintenance and basic repairs on shop machines.Ability to work safely around production equipment and follow established safety procedures.Attention to detail when monitoring machine performance and conducting inspections.Effective communication skills to work collaboratively within a small production team.Reliability and accountability in managing daily machine preparation and oversight.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrevious experience in a machine shop or similar industrial production setting.Comfort working with a variety of production machines and learning new equipment.Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a busy production environment.Willingness to take initiative and exercise autonomy in managing maintenance tasks.Basic documentation skills for recording maintenance activities and equipment status.Why Work Here?You join a growing operation at a new site that offers significant autonomy in your role and a strong commitment to promoting from within. The role follows a consistent daytime schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
