Registered Nurse

The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse registered in Massachusetts who is responsible and accountable for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care as set forth in the Nursing Department's Clinical Practice Manual. The registered nurse demonstrates initiative, knowledge and clinical skills in caring for the patient with complex needs. The Registered Nurse demonstrates the ability to effectively manage patients by assuming full responsibility for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of patient care and is directly responsible to a designated nurse manager, or supervisor.

Skills and abilities required include basic analytic thinking, observational skills, the ability to set priorities, functioning under stress, and good interpersonal and communication skills.

Working conditions include exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials, and the need to walk and lift.

Supervisory responsibility includes the supervision of other RNs, technical and support personnel.

Qualifications include:

• Education: Graduate of an approved school of nursing with current registration in Massachusetts. For newly licensed nurses a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is required.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of current ICU/critical care experience required
• Interventional Radiology (IR) experience preferred involving any aspect of the IR procedural patient's care (pre/intra/post).
• Port experience preferred
• Procedural sedation experience preferred
• ACLS required or obtained within the first 3 months of hire
• Membership in professional organizations is recommended and certification in a specialty area is encouraged.
• Able to work on call/holiday requirements per the MNA contract.
