MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL I - CLINICAL(6555)

EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF JUVENILE SERVICES AND FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.Under general supervision, this is professional level counseling work with juvenile offenders and their families under the jurisdiction of the Juvenile Court assigned to the Intensive Probation Program. This is independent work responsible for providing individual, group, and family therapy for detained youth. Employee interviews juveniles and guardians, collects assessment information, consults with other staff professionals, develops and maintains case files, and performs related work as required. Work involves primarily coordinating therapeutic treatment services, coordinating substance abuse treatment services, coordinating drug testing, coordinating therapeutic treatment with other agencies, coordinating in-house therapeutic training, coordinating with in-house professionals, and making treatment recommendations to detention and probation staff, and Juvenile Court to include written and verbal feedback on client progress. Work also involves providing screening/assessment services to youth, assisting with training non-clinical staff on screening/assessment procedures, and assisting with the development of screening/assessment policies. Employee will be required to work flexible hours to accommodate the needs of the detention facility. Consults with supervisor on problems in complex cases and applies recommended therapeutic approaches and techniques. While work is primarily at the L. Robert Rivarde Detention Center, work may also require travel to meet with clients and/or families, as needed. Position also requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in a behavioral health related discipline (e.g., counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or similar); PLUS, meets one of the following: I. Active status as a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) or Provisional Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (PLMFT) issued by the LPC Board of Examiners. II. Active status as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) issued by the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners. III. Active status as a Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) issued by the Addictive Disorder Regulatory Authority. NOTE: Any conviction listed in the Louisiana Child Protection Act (Louisiana R.S. 15:587.1) is considered disqualifying, unless written proof of pardon is submitted in time for consideration with the application.

ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL

The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled testing. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers and the dates of employment.
