Position Overview :

As part of the talented service team, the Service Manager oversees all aspects of the service department's operations and supports the full lifecycle of company-owned and customer vessels, from fleet service and maintenance through refurbishment and resale. This role is responsible for ensuring staff are properly trained and equipped with the knowledge, resources, and tools needed to efficiently complete service-related activities while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. The Service Manager leads service operations, fleet boat maintenance strategies, refurbishment initiatives, and regional technician support to drive operational excellence and business performance. Success in this role requires strong leadership, industry knowledge, critical thinking, logistical planning, and a commitment to developing high-performing teams. The Service Manager must possess expertise in warranty administration, repair operations, service writing, parts management, customer relations, and technician development while fostering a collaborative culture focused on delivering exceptional service throughout the vessel ownership lifecycle.

Essential Functions :

• Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises all department personnel.
• Oversees the refurbishment and readiness of fleet boats to support sales initiatives, ensuring vessels meet quality, safety, and presentation standards prior to sale.
• Provides leadership and oversight for technicians supporting regional FBC maintenance operations, ensuring service quality, consistency, resource allocation, and timely completion of maintenance activities.
• Monitors and assures efficient completion of all current and future service jobs.
• Maintains a positive rapport with department staff.
• Upholds positive customer relations and fields all customer-related issues, concerns, and inquiries.
• Provides a safe working environment by abiding by local, state, and federal workplace regulations as well as internal policies that protect staff and customers.
• Monitors and adjusts labor and physical resources to promote year-round profitability through expense ratio control.
• Ensures the department has all parts, tools, and equipment necessary to function seamlessly.
• Continually monitors key metrics (i.e., technician efficiency and productivity) and provides constructive feedback to achieve department goals.
• Ensures adequate and effective interdepartmental communication and collaboration.
• Communicates effectively with customers through a variety of mediums.
• The service manager may also perform duties of additional staff when needed including Service Writer, Technician, Rigger, Warranty Specialist, Parts Specialist, and Lot Crew.
• Anything else needed or asked upon.

Required Qualifications:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Minimum of two years previous management experience in a similar industry
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage human and physical resources
• Ability to monitor and analyze key performance metrics
• Ability to maintain positive relationships with staff and customer
• Proficiency with all Microsoft Office products

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications for Mercury and/or Yamaha
• Background in technical roles such as Service Writer, Technician, or similar positions
• OSHA 30-Hour Certification

Working Conditions:

• The role often involves a mix of office work, inside shop work and outdoors work in varying weather conditions.
• Frequent stationary positioning, traversing, and computer use; occasional ascension/descension, positions self, and lifting up to 50 pounds and may perform tasks that require physical exertion.
• Constantly operates boats, tractor, vehicles, and other motorized equipment.
• Judges distances accurately and operates equipment with precision.
• Works safely near water and on docks traversing uneven terrain.
• Adjusts to various physical positions as needed to perform repair tasks, such as accessing items at ground level, working in limited spaces, or operating at elevated heights.

Travel:

Occasional infrequent travel to other sites may be required

The anticipated pay for this position is $60,000 annually, along with an annual discretionary bonus.

Additionally, you will have opportunities to earn biweekly, quarterly, and annual bonuses based on performance metrics for the Parts and Service department. These bonuses offer a target earning potential of $15,000 annually.

Actual earnings will depend on various factors, including job-related knowledge, relevant experience, market conditions, overall business performance, and the performance of the Parts and Service department.
