Base Pay Minimum base pay from $17.40 per hour. Higher starting pay available based on experience. Purpose Floor & Decor designers provide a seamless start‑to‑finish consultative design service that builds lasting relationships and brand loyalty with the customers we serve. They meet with customers, listen to their project needs, educate them on all that is required, and build a creative design concept incorporating the customers’ personal style, lifestyle, and budget. Minimum Eligibility Requirements Minimum of one (1) year of interior design experience or prior retail/sales experience. Degree in Design is a plus. Knowledge of hard surface flooring is a plus. Proficient in basic mathematical skills. Must be self‑motivated and able to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office suite. Internal candidates must have 12 months of experience in a design consultant position. Essential Functions Greet store customers in a helpful manner and provide walk‑in design assistance. Schedule design appointments for existing and potential customers; develop clientele through networking, referrals, and store leads. Provide tile, wood, stone and accessories advice to homeowners, interior designers, and builders for both residential and commercial projects. Design and sell complete, functional and aesthetically appealing solutions. Manage multiple, simultaneous customer projects through all phases with accuracy, timeliness, and consistent follow‑up and communication. Use company communication tools and emails consistently. Collaborate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation and achieve sales and other goals. Support company initiatives by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees. Engage in current and emerging design trends in your market. Understand and utilize design applications such as Salesforce, the proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, and MyProject. Perform other duties as assigned. Working Conditions Travel: Limited travel by car may be required. Environment: Frequently exposed to a warehouse setting and moving vehicles; noise level typically moderate to noisy. Physical/Sensory Requirements Medium work – Ability to exert 20‑50 pounds of force occasionally, 10‑25 pounds frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Use hands and fingers to handle or feel. Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
