Location

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to medical-surgical patients with diagnoses including pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic conditions, surgical cases, total joints, general surgery, and occasional pediatric respiratory illness
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6 on nights, with oversight and collaboration with Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) to ensure completion of cares including foley care, CHG bathing, and oral care
• Conduct daily touchpoints with PCTs (3x per shift) focused on nursing care priorities and plan of care communication
• Monitor telemetry strips independently; unit utilizes virtual central telemetry monitoring with Philips monitors
• Manage patients on high-flow oxygen and stable home-regimen BiPAP as needed
• Maintain active Illinois RN license and comply with facility drug-free campus policy, including a negative drug screen for all panels

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
• Willingness to float to ICU for general acute overflow patients or to a campus approximately 25 miles away based on staffing need (with at least 2 hours' notice prior to shift start for off-site float)
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 2 years of medical-surgical RN experience preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• PALS certification preferred
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, particularly in collaborative PCT-RN care models
