Job DescriptionSIGN ON BONUS AVAIALBLE BASED ON YEARS OF EXPERIENCE \n\nJob Summary\n\n\nUnder the supervision of the Radiologist and Department Management Team, the Radiology Technologist (Tech) shall provide radiographic imaging services to patients by performing general diagnostic radiological procedures and general fluoroscopic procedures as required of the position. Additionally, the Tech will cross train within the department to perform DEXA scans based on department needs. The Tech shall operate imaging equipment and image processing equipment, prepare radiographic imaging rooms, and maintain department equipment and supplies. The Tech will provide care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient. Additionally, they will provide services for inpatients, outpatients; hospital operating suites, the emergency department (ED), and the continuing care center (CCC). \n\n\nMaintains quality assurance and performance improvement activities within the department as directed. Complies with all Joint Commission, federal, state and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols. Requires excellent customer service skills.\n\n\n Assumes responsibility for the care and safety of patients undergoing medical imaging studies and continually monitors patients for safety and comfort while respecting patient privacy.\n Responsible for safe handling of equipment.\n Educates and explains procedures to patients to prepare patients for medical imaging procedures.\n Selects the proper imaging techniques, positioning, and radiation safety practices to keep exposures ALARA.\n Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.\n Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.\n Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.\n Completes all necessary PACS functions to assure timely presentation of images to radiologists.\n Assists in maintaining basic records, reports, and files.\n Assists in training of students and ancillary personnel.\n Takes standby call at least once a week on a rotational basis scheduled by department needs.\n Interacts professionally with patient/family.\n Completes all tasks in a timely fashion.\n Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including newborn, pediatric, geriatric and general population.\n Meets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean.\n Completes annual educational requirements.\n Maintains regulatory requirements.\n Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.\n Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time.\n Consistently completes and maintains assigned duties; maintains PAR levels.\n Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly.\n Attends annual review and department in-services, as scheduled.\n Attends staff meetings, reads all monthly staff meeting minutes, and is responsible for understanding information presented during staff meetings.\n Maintains hospital requirements, policies and standards on confidentiality.\n Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.\n Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities as directed.\n Complies with all organizational policies.\n Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital and the Medical Imaging Department.\n Exhibits clinical competence, initiative, and professionalism at all times while constantly demonstrating proficiency and knowledge of radiology protocols.\n Uses imaging equipment in an appropriate and safe manner while following department protocols and monitoring their exams for the highest quality images.\n Proficient with all department equipment and systems including the RIS, EHR, and PACS and documents all relevant information appropriately into each system as required.\n Makes efficient use of down time to prevent bottlenecks in workflow (example: assists other modalities with transportation of patients when appropriate and necessary).\n Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Management Team.\n Properly confirms the patient's identity, verifies physician orders, and obtains relevant patient history.\n\nRequired Minimum Education/Certification/Experience:\n\n\n• Graduate from an approved school of Radiologic Technology, either college affiliated or hospital trained.\n\n • Must have active CA - CRT certification; Certified by the State of California to administer radiation. \n\n • Current California Fluoroscopy license (New grads will have 120 days from date of hire to obtain). \n\n • Certified by the ARRT and must have a current ARRT R.T. (R) certification.\n\n • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.\n\n • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
