Academic SY: 2024-2025
Location: Tukwila, WA, South Seattle, WA, Tacoma, WA, Renton, WA Compensation This is a full-time, hourly position with an hourly rate range of $24.40/ hr - $25.89/hr. Because of our strong commitment to equity and growth, Impact does not negotiate hourly rates. Hourly rates are determined based on years of experience. This position ends on the last day of school. - Provide one-on-one or small group support during classroom activities and implement behavior management strategies to address individual student needs. Additionally, collaborate with teachers to ensure continuity in instruction and intervention implementation.
- Maintain detailed records of interventions and their outcomes and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Generate reports to inform educators and stakeholders about student progress when requested.
- Follow individualized plans to address behavioral challenges and promote positive social interactions and support academic skill development through targeted interventions and differentiated instruction. Monitor and track progress and work with the team to adjust interventions as needed to meet student goals.
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment for students during instructional and non-instructional periods and implement safety protocols and procedures in accordance with school guidelines. Provide supervision during transitions, lunchtime, and other activities to prevent accidents and conflicts.
- Assist students with personal care tasks, such as toileting and hygiene, as outlined in their support plans and facilitate smooth transitions between classes and activities to minimize disruptions. Promote safe and inclusive play during recess by monitoring interactions and intervening as necessary.
- Patience and Empathy: Ability to work closely and have patience and empathy supporting students who may have diverse learning needs, behavioral challenges, or disabilities.
- Effective Communication: Ability to clearly and concisely communicate to collaborate with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to convey information about student progress, behavior, and needs accurately and respectfully.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Ability to work in dynamic and ever-changing environments, and willingness to adjust strategies, interventions, and support techniques based on individual student needs, classroom dynamics, and evolving educational plans.
- Must have:
- Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or;
- Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university; or
- Have received a qualifying score on the Education Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment completed an apprenticeship program, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council
- Bachelor's Degree in special education or related field
- Experience working to close the opportunity gap
- Passion for equity and gap closing teaching experience with proven record of student growth
- Must have or be eligible to obtain a CPR certification
- Must have or be eligible to obtain a food handler certification
- Provide academic transcript
- Must pass a fingerprint and background check
- Complete safeschools trainings
