Distributor Operator (Tack Truck) (CDL)

Job Description

The distributor operator ensures safety and operates various equipment including a distributor, rollers, power broom, tamps, and bobcat. Responsibilities include shoveling asphalt, general cleanup, maintaining records of material/equipment usage, performing daily maintenance checks, reporting issues, and minor repairs. Requires a Class B CDL with tank endorsement and the ability to work extended hours in various weather conditions and loud environments.

Essential Functions

Operate and maintain asphalt distributor truck, ensuring proper application rates and consistent coverage.
Calibrate and adjust spray bar settings for various asphalt mixes and job specifications.
Communicate effectively with paving crew members to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Monitor and manage asphalt material levels in the distributor truck.
Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while operating the truck on public roadways and job sites.

Responsibilities

A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Class B CDL with tank endorsement is required.
Paving experience is preferred.
Proficient in operating heavy equipment, specifically asphalt distributor trucks.
Ability to understand and interpret plans, specifications, and safety guidelines.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Mechanical aptitude for minor equipment repairs and troubleshooting.

Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
Physical ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
