Phlebotomist (Evergreen)

Responsibilities Collect plasma from donors by performing venipuncture, monitoring the pheresis process and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Perform all aspects of the pheresis procedure, including donor set‑up, monitoring and disconnect, in compliance with SOPs. Perform venipuncture in accordance with FDA guidelines to initiate the pheresis process. Evaluate vein performance, identify problems and make corrections to expedite donation time while ensuring product quality and donor safety. Provide donor education on therapeutic products made from donated plasma, explaining the screening process, health tests, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, nutrition, and other pertinent information. Answer donor questions accurately, promptly and professionally. Monitor donor reactions, assist with reactions or notify appropriate staff. Use a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents such as machine alerts, volume variances and donor adverse events during pheresis. Perform calibrations, verify maintenance as outlined in SOPs, and resolve complex equipment alarms or donor issues. Troubleshoot equipment failures, create incident documentation, and remove or replace equipment from service. Monitor donor flow on the donor floor to ensure continuous turnover and alert the Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues. Collect arm samples or whole blood samples from donors for testing. Accurately record donor data in the electronic donor information management system per SOPs. Understand policies and procedures associated with hyper‑immune programs at the center, if applicable. Maintain a clean and efficient work environment, ensuring sufficient operating supplies and forms are available. Follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures and promote safety in all actions. Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information. May be cross‑trained in other areas to meet business needs. Possess bilingual skills, if required by the organization, to meet business needs. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 12 months of experience in a medical or health‑care environment preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. For centers located in CA: must be either a state‑certified Certified Phlebotomy Technician I or a current Registered Nurse licensed by the State of California.
