Accountant / Bookkeeper

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper / Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of a growing professional services organization. This individual will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, performing account reconciliations, assisting with month-end close, and supporting financial reporting. The ideal candidate is hands-on, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate general ledger records and ensure transactions are recorded in a timely manner.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing, payment tracking, billing, and collections.
• Prepare and process client invoices, expense reports, vendor payments, and employee reimbursements.
• Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and accruals.
• Monitor cash receipts, disbursements, and outstanding receivables to support cash flow management.
• Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and budget-to-actual analyses.
• Support payroll processing and related reconciliations, as needed.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external accountants or auditors to provide financial information and resolve discrepancies.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and increase efficiency.
• Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related financial role.
• Working knowledge of general accounting principles and basic financial reporting.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associates or bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience working in a professional services environment.
• Familiarity with project-based billing, client invoicing, expense allocations, and revenue tracking.
• Experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting processes.
