Responsibilities

Our Catering Service Captains act as our company ambassadors and spokesperson on each event whether casual or elegant. You are responsible for ensuring the event is executed flawlessly from start to finish and your responsibilities would include but are not limited to the following.

·         Attend and participate in a weekly perspective meeting to help understand and properly execute all events you are assigned to manage.

·         Direct, organize and coordinate FOH and BOH crews of 1 – 50 in the set up and breakdown of an offsite catering event while enforcing company policies and standards.

·         Early arrival to our commissary / warehouse pre – event to inspect equipment, oversee the packing of menu items, packing of truck, gathering of any additional items related to the event.

·         Take responsibility for the proper handling of all equipment pre and post event to prevent any damage.

·         Greet and communicate with clients, guests, venders and staff in a friendly professional manner.

·         Review event details with all to ensure the event is executed properly and in a timely efficient manner.

·         Inspect venue, event rooms and all other set up and staging areas described on your BEO to ensure an efficient and expedient event set up.

·         Oversee decor set up for buffets, action stations, tabletops for plated meal service, beverage and dessert stations as well as field kitchens and event service BOH stations for efficient breakdown

·         Work directly with our culinary team to establish a clear and precise understanding of event expectations to include timing, production and presentations and ingredients with allergy concerns,

·         Conduct preservice meeting offering guidance and motivation while inspecting staff team members for grooming, hygiene, and uniform appearance.

·         Ensure all guest requirements are set 30 minutes prior to event start time.

·         Perform a finale walkthrough of the venue FOH & BOH and ensure it is properly cleaned organized and no equipment was left behind.

·         Inspect truck and equipment for proper loading, making sure all is secured and prepared to travel.

·         Hold post event meeting with all staff and offer praise or communicate any concerns as a group or individually depending on the severity of the issue prior to releasing staff from the shift

·         Return to commissary, unload all viable food items to the walk-ins and freezer, secure truck and drop event folder.

Skills and Qualifications

·         Current Food Handlers Card & Title 4 alcohol certification

·         2+ years of service experience in Catering, Hotel, Resort or other food service establishments

·         1+ years of management and leadership experience

·         Always maintain a Professional manner and appearance

·         Physically able to lift 40+ lbs.

·         Able to carry 8 or more plated meals on serving tray above shoulders

·         Always display and provide unsurpassed customer service skills

·         Ability to multitask with effective communication and organization skills

·         Ability to work well on your own and or manage a crew of 1 – 50

·         Ability to work well and in a professional manner under pressure in all types of circumstances while understanding and enforcing service standards with zero disruption to the flow of the event

·         Anticipate guests needs with the ability to fulfill all requests and to perceive when next course service should begin, or when meal is completed, cleaning and clearing

·         Discuss, review and communicate any last-minute changes and manage the execution of those changes with the event team.

·         Must have reliable transportation

·         Must have clean Department of Motor Vehicles driving record

Work location and Schedule:

Creations in Cuisine Catering’s corporate office and commissary is in the north valley at 1825 W Crest Lane Phoenix Arizona 85027. It is at this location where our weekly meetings take place, and all events originate. You would be required to meet at this location at your scheduled time to inspect equipment, oversee the packing of menu items, packing of truck, gathering of any additional items related to the event. Depending on the level of service we are providing, there may be occasions where you will be required to meet on site. Event locations may take place valley wide, in southern or northern Arizona in event venues, private homes and businesses.

·         Attend a weekly morning staff meeting

·         Shifts are scheduled at least 2 weeks prior or up to 1 month prior depending on booking dates

·         Captain shifts average 5-8 hours. Creations in Cuisine Catering guarantees a 4-hour minimum shift unless staff member requests an early departure.

·         Once scheduled to work you will be given a 48-hour grace period to except or decline

·         Once a shift is excepted Service captains are expected to fulfill that commitment. Although there are times where this may not be possible, excessive call offs or shift rescheduling is not acceptable. 

·         Captains will at times be scheduled on shifts as captain or as support staff such as co-captain, server, bartender at their captain wage per hour minus incentive.

·         Manage events that occur in the early mornings, afternoons and evenings.

·         Some holidays, dictated by business levels

·         Willing to travel throughout the valley, southern and northern Arizona

·         Must be dependable with minimal shift refusals, tardiness and work absence

Compensation and Benefits:

Creations in Cuisine Catering offers a competitive and generous compensation package with an understanding that all staff members deserve the need to maintain the perfect work-life balance.

·         Captains will be compensated the Hourly rate of $15-$18 dollars per hour, depending on experience with added incentive bonus, and gratuity

·         Incentive bonus is awarded @ $2.00 per hour and is based on management’s evaluation of each event and is based on the flawless execution of the event, zero equipment damage or breakage and positive feedback from clients, allied vendors, CICC and temporary staff members.  

·         Gratuity is guaranteed @ $10.00 per hour for all events except occasional contracted festivals, charities or marketing events. You will be given ample notice of these events and the right to decline the shift.

·         Paid travel time for events that are greater then 1 hour travel time from our commissary location.

·         Matching 401k participation, 100% vested on enrollment
