Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): Eligible Position .

Compensation: Competitive salary, annual performance bonuses, and regular salary increments.
Paid Time Off: Enjoy 50-55 days of paid leave annually, which includes 26 days of vacation, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and potentially 5 days of paid absence for Continuing Medical Education (CME).

The Cardiologist Physician is a specialized healthcare provider dedicated to delivering comprehensive patient care within their field of expertise.

This role involves full-time commitment at the Eastern Kansas Health Care System (EKHCS) - Leavenworth campus. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Delivering competent care to a diverse population of Veterans, considering cultural, socio-economic, military service, and age-specific factors.
• Gathering pertinent health and medical histories.
• Conducting physical examinations based on patient age and history.
• Performing or ordering preventive and diagnostic procedures tailored to the patient's age and medical history.
• Identifying health and medical risk factors.
• Utilizing critical thinking skills in the diagnostic process.
• Synthesizing and analyzing collected data.
• Formulating differential diagnoses based on history, physical exams, and diagnostic test results.
• Prioritizing health needs of Veterans.
• Creating individualized treatment plans.
• Ordering additional diagnostic tests as necessary.
• Selecting suitable pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
• Developing patient education plans.
• Initiating consultations or referrals when appropriate.
• Establishing intervention priorities.
• Providing tailored care to meet the specific needs of Veterans.
• Implementing interventions aligned with the treatment plan.
• Initiating actions based on scientific principles, current knowledge, and clinical expertise.
• Ordering, conducting, and interpreting diagnostic tests accurately, and communicating results to patients.
• Prescribing necessary pharmacologic agents and/or non-pharmacologic therapies.
• Demonstrating up-to-date knowledge of advanced pharmacology and therapeutics.
• Adhering to standardized procedures as required.
• Implementing current clinical guidelines and pathways.
• Providing relevant patient education.
• Making appropriate referrals to other healthcare professionals and community resources.
• Participating in peer reviews as assigned.
• Utilizing appropriate healthcare resources effectively.
• Obtaining informed consent when necessary.
• Maintaining a systematic follow-up process.
• Promptly evaluating the effectiveness of treatment plans.
• Accurately documenting the effects of interventions and care outcomes in patient records.
• Reassessing and adjusting plans as needed to meet healthcare goals.
• Serving on committees, teams, workgroups, and participating in chart reviews as requested by administration.
• Completing all required training mandated by the organization.
• Managing a variety of responsibilities related to the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive healthcare plans for patients within the specialty.
• Providing ongoing inpatient or outpatient care within the assigned clinical setting.
• In inpatient settings, conducting rounds to monitor and document each patient's medical progress, updating medical records, adjusting orders as necessary, and informing the responsible physician of significant changes in patient conditions.
• In outpatient settings, assessing patients and managing acute and chronic illnesses, focusing on maintaining stable conditions, preventive care, and screenings. Consulting with other physicians regarding diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up as needed.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
