Memorial Hospital of Carbondale

With 162 acute care beds, Memorial Hospital serves as the areas regional referral center. Memorial specializes in obstetrics and tertiary services such as vascular, neurology, oncology and cardiology. Other features include:

• 36,000 ED encounters annually
• Accredited Chest Pain Center and is the hub for the Prairie STAT Heart/STEMI program
• Primary Stroke Center
• Labor & Delivery unit with Level II Plus nursery, caring for 2200+ babies annually
• 24-hour Hospitalist program
• Imaging center includes 128 Slice CT, 3T MRI, PET/CT, interventional radiology and ACR-certified ultrasound services
• 10 suite modern surgical center with da Vinci Xi robotics
• Hybrid OR
• Comprehensive neuroscience program with neurology, neurosurgery, interventional pain and physiatry
• Affiliated with SIU School of Medicine, family medicine residency program, and general surgery residency rotation
• Commission on Cancer accredited program
• Partnership with Prairie Cardiovascular
• Cardiac services include cath lab, cardiac surgery, vascular, and rehab

Herrin Hospital

Herrin Hospital lies about ten miles to the east of Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. It hosts 114 beds and serves as our systems center for Rehabilitation Services, Bariatric Surgery, and the Bone and Joint Institute for the system. Other features include:

• 30,000 ED encounters annually
• 24-hour Hospitalist program
• Accredited Chest Pain Center with Prairie Cardiovascular Consultants
• 7-suite modern surgical center
• 29-bed acute rehabilitation center that partners with Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, previously known as Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago
• MRI, CT, PET/CT
• Primary Stroke Center
• Wound Center with hyperbaric chambers

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess

• An MD or equivalent degree in medicine
• A current Illinois medical license or eligibility to obtain one       
• BE/BC via American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association
• Strong clinical skills and a commitment to delivering high?quality patient care
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Dedication to maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational standards
