Job Details Level: Management Job Location: Corpus Christi, TX 78414 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $45,000.00 - $45,000.00 Salary/year Job Category: Management Organization St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, Texas, is hiring a full‑time Business Manager. The Parish Business Manager supports the Pastor's administrative responsibilities to the parish, which includes the church and all associated ministries. The Parish Business Manager is a steward of the financial and physical resources of the parish and has fiduciary responsibility for all areas. In collaboration with the Parish Finance Council and other parish committees/organizations, the Parish Business Manager ensures parish business practices align with the Mission, Vision and Core Values of the parish. Development and implementation of the parish strategic plan is an integral part of this position's responsibility. Daily operations include leading and guiding the (paid) staff to fulfill our parish vision and providing hospitality to each person we encounter daily. Ministerial Character The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. He employs suitable, chosen collaborators—clerics, religious, and lay people—to share the apostolic mission and entrust responsibilities to them. Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. This position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry, engaging in ministry for the church. Duties and Responsibilities Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life. Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church. Participate in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed. Manage the parish's financial resources: record revenues, expenses, reporting, deposit, and follow accounting policies and procedures. Prepare the annual operating budget for the parish and present it to the Parish Finance Council and Pastor for approval. Provide Human Resources support at the local level in conjunction with the Diocesan Human Resources Office: manage payroll, benefits, and reporting functions; Maintain accurate records and files (financial, personnel, construction, contracts, etc.). Maintain a responsible cash flow management system and maximize cash management resources. Oversee counting and deposit of all parish funds. Participate in or lead required meetings (Finance Council, Stewardship, Building Committee, staff meetings). Oversee accounting policies and procedures. Initiate all purchases (expenditures) and obtain approval of Finance Council and Pastor as required. Monitor and keep inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment for the parish, and purchase any needed items. Maintain computer equipment, security system, network and telephone system; solicit bid proposals from vendors as needed. Manage facilities including custodial work, restorations, renovations, and work with related vendors. Supervise parish staff and volunteers, ensuring compliance with Safe Environment policies of the Diocese of Corpus Christi. Oversee parish calendar. Guide parish ministries as requested (funeral ministry, ACTS retreats, etc.). Oversee safety security of buildings, grounds and keys of the parish. Ensure the Pastor is informed and consulted on all matters and operations of the Parish. Perform other duties as assigned. Mental / Physical Demands Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more. Ability to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stress. Must maintain confidentiality. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management or business operations. Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls. Experience in nonprofit, school, or parish settings preferred. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to manage complexity and lead cross‑functional processes. Valid Texas driver's license required. Must be 21 years of age or older. Additional Requirements Must submit to employment‑required screenings including a criminal history background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screening. Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources. Position requires adherence to Diocesan policies and procedures.
