Shipping / Receiving Clerk

Shipping clerks work in warehouses across the country and across all industries, including pharmaceutical, consumer goods, medical devices, etc. They are responsible for reviewing packing lists and ensuring the correct items are shipped out to customers. Responsibilities of Shipping Clerks Filling customer orders according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) Using computer hardware and software to generate labels and maintain equipment Performing daily and weekly cleaning according to SOPs Maintaining and organizing adequate shipping supplies Using manual and electric pallet jacket as needed Ensuring that products processed for shipping are delegated to correct courier Assisting in others areas as needed and performing other duties as assigned To qualify for a shipping clerk job, candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and be in good physical condition. Receiving clerks support warehouse operations by receiving incoming material, counting and inventorying items, and receiving and checking the contents of packages against packing lists and manifests. Responsibilities of Receiving Clerks Arranging finished products using LIFO or FIFO methodology Moving short-dated finished product into inactive inventory Documenting daily inactive inventory Maintaining reverse-distribution processes Performing monthly inventory checks Receiving and inspecting returned products Receiving and inspecting incoming raw materials Assisting in labeling and packaging To qualify for a receiving clerk job, candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and be in good physical condition. Shipping/Receiving supervisors ensure the smooth and efficient operations of shipping and receiving departments. They are responsible for coordinating the activities of employees engaged in material handling, shipping, storage and transportation. Responsibilities of Shipping/Receiving Managers Overseeing incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and conditions of shipments Determining work procedures, preparing work schedules and expediting workflow Determining shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules Arranging transportation that optimizes service and cost Inspecting incoming materials and notifying appropriate staff of potential quality issues Inspecting loading operations to ensure compliance with specifications Directing movement of shipments to appropriate work areas Ensuring shipping area is organized and clean at all times and meets all compliance factors Ensuring that all employees are in compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations and other company-related policies and procedures Investigating and solving customer problems and issues Compiling and maintaining applicable metrics as required Managing the operational budget Training, developing and performance-monitoring activities To qualify for a shipping/receiving manager job, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years or related experience. #J-18808-Ljbffr
