Summary

A Phlebotomist assists in the performance of various tasks, addressing issues, providing training, and suggesting workflow improvements.

Responsibilities

Skills include blood draws, sample labeling, specimen centrifugation, maintenance recordkeeping, decontamination, and patient information updates. Follows established protocols for specimen collection, explaining procedures to patients in a clear and courteous manner. Performs venipunctures using straight or butterfly needles, follows physician orders, processes and stores samples correctly, and ensures accuracy in documentation and labeling.

Qualifications

Phlebotomy certification required for the state of employment, minimum 6 months’ experience in fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, High School Diploma or GED, and at least 2 years of experience.
