About Our Client

A well-established, mid-sized manufacturing organization in the greater Chicago area is seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to lead its accounting operations and financial reporting functions. This role reports directly to the CFO and plays a key leadership role in ensuring the integrity of financial information, compliance, and operational efficiency across the organization.

Job Description

Corporate Controller Responsibilities:

• Oversee all core accounting functions, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll
• Manage and streamline the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting
• Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and regulatory requirements
• Maintain oversight of corporate cash management and liquidity
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
• Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and provide actionable insights to leadership
• Support forecasting and budgeting processes in partnership with senior leadership
• Deliver timely financial reporting to meet corporate deadlines
• Lead internal controls framework and ensure ongoing compliance
• Coordinate external audits and support internal audit activities
• Oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance and filings
• Identify risks and implement improvements to strengthen financial processes
• Lead and develop a small accounting team, including direct oversight of key functional leaders
• Establish departmental goals and monitor performance
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration

The Successful Applicant

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• Controller-level experience in a manufacturing environment
• SAP ERP System Experience
• Deep understanding of accounting operations, reporting, and controls
• CPA is preferred, not required
