Job DescriptionSummary:The operator is responsible for the direct supervision of the assigned production lines. This position is directly responsible for worker compliance with established safety, quality, quantity and housekeeping.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Responsible for interpretation of and adherence to production work ordersMaintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipmentReports any process and equipment problemsAssists in training production assistantsOrganizes work for smooth operationsResponsible for all processes, equipment, employees, safety and housekeeping on assigned linesAdherence to company policies and proceduresResponsible for assuring order set-ups, product quality checks and equipment set-ups are done in line with specificationsResponsible for ensuring scrap goals on assigned lines are metAssist the Maintenance Technicians during breakdowns to minimize downtimesReport malfunctions or unsafe working conditions to the Sr. Operator or SupervisorUnderstand and actively participate in the company’s EHS policy, goals, and objectivesAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, order forms, travelers and checklistsAbility to speak effectively with Managers, co-workers or before groups of co-workers, Supervisors or others within the companyMandatory participation of safety programs and trainingAttend meetings as scheduledWear mandatory assigned Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.)Be a team player with a positive attitude and work well with othersPossess good written and verbal communications skillsKnow and understand the importance of safety, quality, housekeeping and teamworkDependable and flexible when work is required in other facets of productionTo ask questions to prevent errors or clarificationCan work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environmentSafety Commitment:Takes reasonable care for their own health and safetyTakes reasonable care for the health and safety of othersAuthorized to stop work when a perceived unsafe condition or behavior may result in an unwanted eventUnderstands and actively participates in the company’s EHS policy, goals, and objectivesQualifications & Requirements:Requires overall knowledge and experience of extruders, recycling procedures and profiles of resins and their propertiesMust be able to work rotating 12-hour shift including holidays and weekendsMust be able to bend, twist, and rotate body at all timesEssential Physical Requirements:The employee in this job is required to exert 50 pounds of force occasionally (less than 1/3 of time); and up to 35 pounds of force frequently (more than 1/3 of the total time); if over 50 lbs., requires a team lift or mechanical aid such as a roll lift or forklift.Must be able to stand for 12 hoursMust be able to bend, twist, and rotate body at all timesReaching with hands and arms for as much as 100% of workdayTalking to communicate with othersHearing to communicate with others and respond to manufacturing and PIT equipment soundsUsing arms to grasp, handle, and typeWalking to operate production machines and to package and palletize finished productWork Environment:This position requires that the employee be able to work:Outdoors - 1/3 of the time or lessNear moving mechanical parts - Over 2/3 of the timeHigh or precarious places - 1/3 of the time or lessNear electrical components - 1/3 of the time or lessNear vibrating equipment and tools - 1/3 of the time or lessFumes from equipment or airborne particles - 1/3 of the time or lessToxic or caustic chemicals - 1/3 of the time or lessExtreme heat (non-weather) - 1/3 of the time or lessExtreme cold (non-weather) - NoneWet or humid conditions (non-weather) - 1/3 of the time or lessLoud environments (equipment operation) - 1/3 of the time or lessLanguage Skills:Must be able to read and write in EnglishEducation:High School diploma or GED preferredNote: This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee holding this position.Our ExpectationsWe expect our people to be guided by The Amcor Way and demonstrate our Values every day to enable the business to win.
