Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift

This is an 8 to 13-week contract position.

Night shift, 3x12.0.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care through intensive respiratory care and patient transport, operating within the scope of their professional license with minimal supervision. They evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans while educating them on procedures and equipment used during treatments.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments operating various ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning to promote secretion clearance.
• Conduct oximetry and capnography monitoring as per hospital policy.
• Perform routine review of patient's chest x-rays to assess the need for further evaluation.
• Administer 12-Lead EKGs and basic arrhythmia recognition.
• Assist in procedures related to respiratory care, including Bronchoscopy, Perc Trachs, and Chest Tube placement.
• Manage tracheostomy care and perform endotracheal intubations using appropriate techniques.
• Monitor and maintain mechanical ventilation using various equipment types.
• Document all treatments and patient responses accurately on respiratory care records.
• Communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding treatment efficiency.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Current Virginia licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Experience with mechanical ventilation and various respiratory care procedures.
