Job Description

This role focuses on building pre-manufactured metal buildings in commercial and industrial settings. You will use your hands-on experience in metal fabrication, welding, and structural assembly to help deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget. The position involves reading blueprints, assembling and installing metal structures, and working safely with a variety of tools and equipment in an outdoor construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Build pre-manufactured metal buildings for commercial and industrial projects.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements.
• Fabricate, assemble, and install metal structures, components, and framing according to project plans.
• Perform carpentry, roofing, and general construction tasks as needed to complete building projects.
• Operate welding equipment, cutting tools, hand tools, power tools, and heavy machinery safely and efficiently.
• Measure and mark materials for cutting, drilling, and assembly to ensure accurate fits and alignments.
• Inspect finished products and completed work for quality, structural integrity, and compliance with specifications.
• Collaborate with project managers and other trades on-site to coordinate tasks and maintain project timelines.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at the shop and on job sites.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective gear.
• Travel daily from the shop to various job sites within the service radius and assist with loading and unloading materials.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience with house construction, roofing, or remodeling.
• Practical experience in metal construction, including working with sheet metal.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction specifications.
• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools commonly used in construction and metal fabrication.
• Experience with welding and metal fabrication processes.
• Ability to perform structural assembly, framing, and basic carpentry tasks.
• Capability to perform roofing work, including working safely at heights.
• Strong general labor skills, including lifting, carrying, and working with construction materials.
• Willingness and physical ability to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
• Reliable transportation to drive to the shop daily before traveling to job sites.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Preferred 2 to 5 years of experience in sheet metal construction.
• Experience operating welding equipment, cutting tools, and heavy machinery.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, structurally sound work.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a construction crew and communicate clearly with project teams.

Work Environment

This is a field-based construction role with work performed outdoors year-round in all weather conditions. You will report to the shop each day and then travel with the team to job sites within approximately a 30-mile radius of Racine. The work environment is hands-on and physically active, involving metal construction, framing, roofing, welding, and general labor tasks. You will regularly use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, cutting tools, and heavy machinery while working on commercial and industrial metal building projects. The setting emphasizes safety, teamwork, and maintaining an organized job site.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of RACINE, MN.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
