Position Summary: The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining heavy and support equipment at transfer stations and material-recovery facilities safely and professionally. Your Role: Troubleshooting heavy equipment. Welding. Maintain and repair various types of heavy equipment, diesel motors, and hydraulic systems. Take an active role in improving safety and health in the workplace. Participate in all required Company meetings, including weekly safety meetings. Maintains reasonable, regular, punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other federal, state, and local standards. Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs. Your Skills: Ability to use various vehicle maintenance tools such as hand, electric, pneumatic, jacking, safety stands, and electronic testing equipment. Ability to receive, understand, and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to read and understand parts of service manuals. Ability to prepare legible and understandable work orders and schedule completion sheets. Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions. Requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Driver's License/CDL B is a plus. Must supply own tools. ASE Certification. Tow Motor and Air brake certification is a plus. Demonstrated mechanical skills. 2-5 years of experience in a transport environment. Gritty, outgoing, and eager to learn.
