Budget Analyst

Duties

Perform budget formulation work involving preparation of detailed analyses of annual and/or multi-year budget estimates for assigned organizations/programs into a consolidated budget request.

Develop background data, information, and documentation to support required program budgets involving Defense Health Program (DHP) and Line funds.

Research, compile, and summarize data involving obligations, expenses, and object class/line item information, narrative information, and quantitative budgetary data for use in preparing budget estimates.

Perform budget execution and administration work involving the monitoring of obligations incurred and the actual expenditures of a budget with different sources and types of funding.

Monitor the use and rate of expenditures of budgeted funds through continuing dialogue with program officials and their staff, review of written documents, and examination of accounting records.

Function as a source of expert advice on medical program cost estimating through briefings and consultations with staff and customers.

Use automated budgetary system(s) and computer-generated products in accomplishing budgeting assignments.
