Must be able to remove and replace wallpaper as needed.
Performs skilled painting jobs on furniture, buildings and other areas within and/or around the hotel property.
- Typically requires a high school diploma and 0 to 5 years of experience.
- Performs work under direct supervision.
- Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to understand and follow directions.
- Manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift/move heavy objects.
- Physical stamina.
- Cleans and maintains brushes and other tools utilized after every painting job.
- Effectively mixes and matches various types of paint.
- Demonstrates appropriate usage of paint brushes, thinner and other tools and equipment.
- Inspects the walls and deciding upon the number of paint coats that will be required.
- Maintains quality and standards of work.
- Applies paint, stain, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to equipment, buildings, and/or other structures, using brushes, spray guns, or rollers.
- Applies primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood or metal, for finish coats.
- Mixes and matches colors of paint, stain, or varnish with oil and thinning and drying additives in order to obtain desired colors and consistencies.
- Fills nail holes, joints, and cracks in walls with plaster or other filler.
- Covers surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and removes fixtures such as pictures, door knobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting.
- Calculates amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements and/or work orders.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Requisitions new painting supplies and equipment.
