ASSISTANT WAREHOUSE MANAGER - Evening or Night Shift

JOB SUMMARY The Assistant Warehouse Manager assists with the oversight of the safe receipt, storage, retrieval, and timely dispatch of goods by directly receiving, warehousing, and distribution services. They ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met and assist with responsibility for the security of the building and product. They assist, as directed with the guidance of worker(s) including training and reporting issues to the Warehouse Manager. The Assistant Manager may also help operational staff with daily routine tasks as necessary. SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures. Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols. After training, competent use of company ERP system. Assist with inventory level control by conducting physical counts, reconciling with data storage system. Support maintenance, regulatory and other activities associated with M&N transportation fleet including interaction with 3rd party lease and maintenance companies. Assist in overseeing building facilities and grounds. Maintain physical conditions of warehouse, equipment, and vehicles by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement. Manage MRO levels and costs. Assist in oversight of work environment to maintain a neat, clean, and safe work environment. Continual effective communication with all internal and external clients. Completed warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, following up on work results. Assist Warehouse Manager(s) when directed to work with warehouse staff by coaching, training, and mentoring staff in the performance of their responsibilities. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Contributes to team effort as needed or requested to meet department and or business objectives. Other duties as assigned by management. Regular and reliable on-site attendance is a condition of employment. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS High school diploma or GED required with a minimum of 2 years of supervisor or management experience in a warehouse setting. Good team working skills – leadership and motivational skills. Managerial skills – Ability to plan and organize work schedules, prepare routine administrative paperwork. Interpersonal skills. Verbal and written communication skills. Logical reasoning – judgment, strong decision-making skills. Numerical skills – Good math skills (sort, check, count, measure and verify numbers). Valid NYS Driver's License for travel as required between service sites with company vehicle. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None unless temporarily assigned by Warehouse Manager(s). ACCOUNTABILITIES Assist with purchasing materials and/or commodity products. Assist Warehouse Manager(s) with evaluating bids, negotiating price, delivery, quality, and service. Follow up on all awards thorough completion of order. Assist, as necessary, the Warehouse Manager(s) with any negotiation with suppliers regarding rejections, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes. Participant in the quality initiatives, evaluate and rate our supplies, relative to production capability, performance, and delivery. EQUIPMENT, MACHINES AND SOFTWARE USED Ability to operate a forklift, crane, and back saw. Accurately read calipers and measuring instruments to determine inventory amounts and customer requirements. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment including safety shoes, gloves and safety glasses when performing certain job duties. Operator a telephone, cell phone, photocopier, calculator, and computer to send/receive email messages, post information to computer software including an ERP System and Microsoft Outlook365 Suite. MENTAL AND VISUAL REQUIREMENTS Moderate mental and visual attention required for performing manual work, machine operations, setups, inspections and adjustments that require frequent decisions to detect and adjust for variance from proper operation. May be required to operate equipment in congested areas involving considerable variety of movement. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS Ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, grasp, handle, push, pull, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, climb, talk, hear and perform repetitive motion of hands and or wrists. Ability to exert more than 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or more than 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or more than 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Travel is required on an as needed basis to travel to other company site locations or as needed for other company business. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Work involves minimal exposure to unusual elements, such as temperature changes, outdoor exposure to weather conditions, fumes, odors, gases, mists, and or smoke, oils and or lubricating fluids. (SDS sheets on file and available for review). Work environment involves exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment and proximity to moving mechanical parts. COMPENSATION Salary range is governmental minimum exempt salary up to $65,000.00 plus established performance-based incentive program - addendums available.
