The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery and Baylor College of Medicine are committed to excellence in surgical care, education, and research. Situated in the world's largest medical center, the Department practices in the Texas Medical Center at BSLMC, Texas Children's Hospital, Ben Taub General Hospital, and the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC). The department trains vascular surgeons at two tracks: Vascular Surgery Integrated Residency and Vascular Surgery Independent Fellowship and maintains robust research programs in clinical, translational, and basic sciences.

Summary

The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking an exceptional full-time vascular surgeon to serve in our Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy at the rank of Associate Professor commensurate with experience. The division has a robust clinical program that includes twelve full-time faculty surgeons working across the Texas Medical Center and at Baylor-affiliated institutions. Ideal candidates will have completed a fellowship or residency in Vascular Surgery and have at least 5 years of experience in practice. The candidate must be American Board of Vascular Surgery board certified and qualify for medical licensure in Texas. Tenure status is dependent upon qualifications.

The successful candidate will exhibit a commitment to clinical excellence, research, innovation, teaching, and collaborative practices. The successful candidate must have an established record of robust clinical experience and outcomes in both open and endovascular surgery and should be committed to teaching vascular surgery residents and advanced fellows.

Job Duties

• Develop and participate in department and division clinical, research, and educational programs.
• Support the implementation of evidence based, state of the art protocols and quality metrics for the service at BCM.
• Provide call coverage for CHI St. Luke's Hospital, TCH, and other affiliated hospitals as needed.
• Actively participate in college, department, hospital and clinical professional meetings.
• Grow the vascular surgery division through participation in clinical, research, and education efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

• Medical degree from an accredited medical school
• Texas Medical Board certification or eligibility
• Completion of a certified vascular surgery residency program
• Completion of a certified vascular surgery fellowship program
