PCU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced PCU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a stepdown unit, focusing on cardiac and respiratory conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with cardiac, respiratory compromise, and post-procedure recovery.
• Administer medications and manage titratable drips including cardiac, antihypertensive, metabolic, antiarrhythmic, sedation, and analgesia.
• Utilize non-invasive respiratory support techniques such as BPAP and heated high flow.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the best patient outcomes.
• Participate in patient assessments, care planning, and patient education.
• Float within designated zones as needed based on patient care requirements.

Shift and Scheduling

This position involves 12-hour day shifts with a commitment to work 36 hours per week. Candidates will be expected to self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts within a six-week period and may be required to work on holidays.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a PCU or critical care setting.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA).
• Ability to perform chest tube management and care for patients requiring non-invasive respiratory support.
• Experience with reading and interpreting telemetry strips preferred.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Stepdown.
• Number of Beds: 36.
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:3, 1:4.
• Support Staff: Nurse aides are available at a ratio of 1:12.

Orientation and Training

All new hires will undergo a structured orientation program, with specific dates and locations provided during the onboarding process. Clinicians must be in-state during their week of orientation, even if initial modules are completed remotely.
