Job Description SUMMARY Performs journeyman level plumbing skills in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems in an educational setting under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor. LOCATION Levelland Campus ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Performs plumbing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair to facilities and systems. Including, but not limited to, water systems, sanitary systems, and natural gas systems. Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to deal with customers, shop personnel and other trades personnel within the department. Working knowledge of operation and safe use of all power and hand tools/equipment to complete daily tasks. Some of the equipment include: drills, power saw, oxygen/acetylene torch, hand shovels, sewer snake, and soldering and brazing equipment. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representatives of the knowledge, skill, and/ or ability required. EDUCATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Minimum 2 years plumbing experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Proficiency in interpretation of freehand sketches, schematics, blueprints, as-built drawings, diagrams and technical publications related to the position. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Texas motors vehicle operator's license and insurability. Plumbing license- preferred Journeyman or greater. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representatives of those must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIROMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions.
